About

Sarah C. Whitehead is an artist, meditation teacher, and healer based in Little Compton, Rhode Island.

Sarah was a dedicated painter before pursuing a career in meditation and healing.

Despite being a very tactile individual, Whitehead reconnected with art in recent years by creating digital māndalas using software and apps. Sarah left art by the wayside for many years after studying painting in college. She has just recently reconnected with her artistic side, and has been making and exhibiting māndalas religiously for about five years.

Sarah was born in New York City and has lived in many places on the East Coast. She enjoys Little Compton’s quiet culture, the forest trails, and, most importantly, time at the beach.

Sarah brings a wealth of training and experience to her artistry and healing work. After a life-threatening battle with addiction and severe illness in her early twenties, Sarah turned to natural healing and spirituality. She found yoga to be a tremendous resource and became a teacher. She met a healer who perceived that Sarah was “channeling a lot of energy,” and advised studying some healing modalities. Sarah pursued training, then, in Shiatsu, and then branched out in a few directions, which she would integrate over the next many years. In 1998, Sarah decided to pursue a MA in Buddhist Studies at Naropa University in Boulder, CO. Naropa provided Sarah with a comprehensive education in the contemplative style. There she met Reggie Ray, with whom she studied for many years following graduate school. During school, on a trip to Mexico, she also met her first shaman teacher, Igor Fernandez of Guadalajara. At Naropa, she met renowned Peruvian shaman, Oscar Miro-Quesada, who was leading a weekend program. Sarah apprenticed closely with Oscar for seven years. While in Boulder, Sarah also attended Hanna Kroeger’s school for natural healing, where she learned about energy healing and herbs, and achieved the highest level of Advanced Practitioner there. Sarah’s work is a weaving together of many complementary lineages.
