Habit vs Feeling Natural

Have you tried a new way of thinking or being, only to stop because it didn’t feel natural? For me this is a common occurrence. At some point, I saw it. I saw that what does feel natural has nothing to do with nature or being natural, but is habitual. It feels familiar.

It can take a while for a new practice to feel normal, and how it feels in the beginning is not an indicator of whether it’s a good idea or not. It should feel strange in the beginning, unnatural. With repetition, this new practice will start to feel more familiar and even reliable as a resource.
